Archer Strix who doesn't quite know what to make of life.
Cofan was born into a very interesting community of beings. His people, the Strix, were a strong and proud avian community that made its home in the Devils Perch in Cheliax. Their hatred of Humans of Cheliax had given the community certain martial prowess over them. They had learned the most efficient ways to neutralize their land bound foes, but even amongst their numbers were those who did not believe in hate for hates sake. This growing number of Strix felt that understanding how to disable their enemy was enough, but did not hate their enemy. They instead considered the human aggressors as ignorant and preferred to stay out of their way. Cofans mother and father were among this growing number, but were a little quieter about their feelings. Soon the tension between the ideologies was more than the Strix society could handle. In an effort prevent an uprising, the leader of the Strix clans decided that if these people wanted to be kind to the humans, then they should walk amongst them as humans. Those who openly stated an opposite opinion were to have their wings cut off and be forced to walk the land as humans. Many fell to their deaths in this bloody onslaught…. Those who did manage to survive the fall were considered as humans and were treated as such. Seeing their closest friends and family cut down like this was more than they could bare. Cofans parents decided that it was time to leave. Quietly and without drawing attention, Cofans parents made their way out of the Devils Perch and set their sights south west. Cofan was too young to completely understand what was going on and couldn’t fathom why his parents would take him from their ancestral home.
Over the course of a year and with great caution and determination, Cofan and his parents left Cheliax and made their way into Rahadoum. There they had the fortune of meeting with other Strix who had departed the Devils Perch in an effort to escape a bad situation before it started. There were also reports of others who had left and traveled further west into the Desert lands of Osirion. Slowly over the course of the next several months Cofan and his parents made their way further west into the mountains of Osirion. Once there they settled. Here things were quite different than in the Devils Perch. His people were calm and happy. They rarely left the peaks in these mountains, sand storms would rage far below, and all the strix could see was the beautiful sky over a sand covered landscape. The settlement here was small, but it was best this way. They wouldn’t attract much attention and most wouldn’t even brave the mountains to find them. Cofans parents raised him to not hate humans, but to understand them and not be afraid of them in any way. They also instructed him in the art of bring one down quickly, if needed.
